1968 – Announced

1968 – a MATT NORMAN film

It has long been known that writer, director and Producer Matt Norman’s main reason to make the documentary “Salute” was to research the real story of what happened in 1968 for his feature film entitled 1968. A lot of people have emailed to ask if this film will be made into a Feature. The answer is YES. We have been speaking with studio’s in the U.S about Matt Norman’s “1968″ which is the drama version of Salute. Norman, the nephew of Peter Norman knows the story intimately and has hundreds of hours of footage that tell a much deeper story that requires further telling. Norman holds these rights so it is only natural to be a direction that he was to follow through with. More information will be available on this site about the feature 1968. We are currently seeking the films writer.

Having been involved in sport and the fitness regime in the 60’s and seventies, I felt a part of and in the film that showed Peter’s exploits. The great deal of heart initially, the dedication and intensely gruelling training regimes and strategies, but mainly to continue under (at times) difficulty in the spirit, soul and body attrition, was an incredible insight, that Matt conveyed very well. The main aspect that truly blessed me, was Peter’s righteous heart to stand and stay in support of his humble team mates on the victory dais, and not turning from that later on. I agree that it takes an expert hand however to assist in turning it into a block buster as it deserves. Good on you Matt.
